beauty of our state and the warmth and vitality of our communities.  As a key gateway to the 2010 Games, Washington is committed to assisting the Canadian federal government, the Province of British Columbia, and the Vancouver Organizing Committee in making the 2010 Games a success--a winter Olympics and Paralympics that will be noted for their gracious hosts, outstanding competition, celebration of diverse cultures, and demonstration of sustainability.  My 2010 Task Force is taking strategic action to maximize opportunities that the 2010 Games will bring to Washington and the greater Northwest region.   The 2010 Games also provide a platform for ongoing dialogue with our Canadian neighbors on issues of mutual interest, including border crossing and security, transportation, international trade, and workforce development.  I am confident that our collaboration will generate enhanced partnerships and increased growth for Washington and Cascadia as a whole.  We look forward to welcoming athletes and visitors to the Pacific Northwest and hope you will join us in becoming part of the lasting legacy of the 2010 Games.
